Let learners use AI.
Always know which words are theirs.

vaultED puts an AI assistant beside every assignment. Anything a learner takes from the assistant stays marked in their document. When the work is handed in, teachers can see how much of it the AI wrote, down to a percentage.

The vaultED learner workspace for an assignment called The water cycle. The chat with the assistant is on the left. On the right is the learner's document: three paragraphs of their own writing, then a passage copied from the assistant shown in purple. Above the document it reads 18% AI generated.

How it works

Learners use AI whether it's allowed or not. vaultED puts the assistant inside the assignment, where teachers can see it, and keeps the learner's writing apart from the assistant's.

The chat sits beside the document

Learners work with the chat on one side and their document on the other. They can ask questions as they go, and every conversation is saved against the assignment.

AI text stays marked, even in the PDF

Answers copied from the assistant are shown in their own colour, including in the PDF a teacher downloads. If a learner edits a copied passage, their changes are recorded as their own writing. Copy and paste into the document is turned off.

The AI's share is fixed at hand-in

The document counts the learner's words and the assistant's words, and shows what share came from the AI. The figure is saved with each submission, so it doesn't change after hand-in.

Who it's for

Learners, teachers and administrators each get the tools for their role. Everyone signs in with their email and a one-time code, so nobody needs a password.

Learners

  • See every assignment and its status in one list
  • Chat with the assistant beside the document
  • Work is saved automatically as they type
  • Add a message for the teacher when they submit
  • Read teacher feedback on work they've handed in

Teachers

  • Create classes and assignments, and allocate them to learners
  • Track who has submitted and who hasn't
  • Download each submission as a PDF
  • Read the learner's full prompt history
  • Accept or reject work, with notes the learner can reply to

Administrators

  • Add teachers and learners, and choose who else can administer
  • Organise subjects for classes
  • Create tutor groups, assign tutors and add learners to them
  • Deploy on your own infrastructure with one installation key

Every submission shows how much the AI wrote

Next to each learner's submission, teachers see its status and the share of the text the AI wrote. They can open the prompt history to see what the learner asked, not only the answer they ended up with.

Feedback goes back to the learner as a conversation. Reject a piece with a note and the learner can reply to it from their own screen.

A teacher's list of submissions for The water cycle. Each learner has a status and an AI share: Bennett, Chloe, accepted, 8%; Doyle, Sam, submitted, 22%; Hussain, Zara, submitted, 0%; Morgan, Rhys, rejected, 71%; Walsh, Ellie, accepted, 12%. Morgan's submission is open beside the list, with the learner's message and the teacher's note asking for parts to be rewritten in their own words.
